Sauvignon Blanc: Another of the classic noble grapes. Crisp & refreshing with bright citrus and herbal notes. This grape has a bold, fruity style in New Zealand and a softer, less fruity taste in France. In Washington, it tends to be dry and have citrus aromas. But it all depends on the winemaker’s style and what they wan to create.
Washington Sauvignon Blanc: The 2022 harvest was 12,800 tons of grapes, up from 8,320 tons in 2021. This kept it as the 4th most planted white grape in the state, after Chardonnay, Riesling, and Pinot Gris. Red wines grapes still are the top grown grapes in Washington, but white grapes are catching up!
