Quick and Easy Recipe: the Leftovers Crunch Wrap Supreme

Crunch Wrap and Washington Petit Verdot

Of course you have leftovers – now what to do with them? It has to be easy. And it has to be good. So we made the Thanksgiving Leftovers Crunch Wrap, inspired by the classic. Half of you are now saying ‘duh’ and the other half is saying ‘what’s a crunch wrap?” Gen Z taught Gen X the ropes this week, and it was worth all the laughter.

How It Went

You’re busy. Or your food coma is still wearing off. So cooking is not really a thing today. But food and wine still is! So we were talking traditional leftovers recipes and wine pairings, when the crunch wrap came up. And I said, ‘what’s that?? [Gen Z here- you should have seen my jaw drop when I realized she was serious & yes I will be bringing a crunch wrap over]. A few videos and a taste test later I was on board. And then we had to make it. It’s easy. Nothing to cook since it’s an assembly of leftovers in a tortilla with cheese (staples, yes?). There’s no real recipe. You assemble what you have and then grill it till it’s all warm and melty.

The biggest challenge was folding to get the stop sign shape. Gen Z (the media expert) had to step in since clearly some of us needed more practice. Or maybe less stuff in the wrap, hard to tell. Sounds odd? Yep. But delicious, because it has cheese and other leftovers in it. Want to add spices? Go for it. Unsure what to add? Try a combo of any leftovers, it’s shockingly versatile. Add hot sauce too.

Wine Pairing: Washington Petit Verdot

Now, to the critical part. The wine pairing. You worked hard. So relax today! You want something juicy that you can simply enjoy. There’s all kinds of flavors in the wrap, so pairing is relative. Stay traditional with Pinot Noir or Chardonnay (Washington style Chardonnay is especially good at Thanksgiving, IMHO). But we went big. Petit Verdot is always inky and tannic. And just what we wanted after a day of elegant wines that paired well with a big meal. Today was the day for an easy meal and a big wine. So pair with anything that sounds good to you today.
