Thai Takeout and a Bright Washington Sangiovese

It’s December—the holiday chaos is in full swing, and if we’re being honest, cooking dinner is not happening tonight. There’s shopping, wrapping, working, and somewhere in there, the small matter of remembering to eat. That’s why we turned to the ultimate lifesaver: takeout.
Thai takeout, to be exact. Quick, flavorful, and perfect with—you guessed it—wine. Because even when things are busy, we’re still making time to pair our meals with something delicious.
How It Went
Holiday stress? Meet your match: Chicken Pad Thai, EXTRA spicy Cashew Chicken and Pad See Ew. It was quick. It had the perfect level of spice – which varied by order from medium to extra hot. Exactly what we needed after a long day of juggling a to-do list the size of Santa’s.
The secret to enjoying December? Let someone else do the work while you uncork the wine. Between the bold flavors and the light-bodied wine, dinner felt like a much-needed pause button on the holiday rush.
Wine Pairing

This was the fun part. Thai food is a flavor explosion—spicy, sweet, tangy—so we went with a Washington Sangiovese. Bright and juicy, it’s packed with red fruit notes. It can play nice with bold flavors but still hold its own.
Why Sangiovese? Its’ high acidity cuts through the spice. And those cherry and raspberry flavors make it a match for the sweet heat of Thai chiles. Plus, it rocks just enough tannin to give it structure without overwhelming the dish. A total win for takeout night!
Real Talk
Sometimes, the best meals are the ones you didn’t make yourself. Pairing Thai takeout with a fantastic Washington wine wasn’t just easy—it reminded us why we love the holidays. Sure, it can be chaotic. It’s also a time to slow down, sip something tasty, and enjoy the little moments together.
What’s your go-to takeout + wine pairing? Bonus points if you’re also dodging wrapping paper and gift bags while you eat.
